At 7:30 a.m., the employees had breakfast together at the company’s headquarters in Alphaville (SP) before the morning activities. These included lectures and group dynamics. It was the day of the innovation and technology company’s Culture Event. At the end of the morning, the surprise. It was time to board a large, comfortable bus bound for the Granja Viana Karting Track. This was the start of a carefully planned adventure in collective engagement. Once there, the activities included nothing less than a race on the track. Dressed in overalls and wearing safety equipment, the employees of GIC Brasil entered the competition, which was certainly friendly, but with a certain degree of rivalry. The most important thing in practice was not to win, although it is always very appropriate to celebrate a victory. The objective went beyond that, the search for and connection to a greater, integrated feeling of belonging. “The Culture Event was an experience dedicated to all of us, who day after day live and build GIC’s Culture. That’s why I say with conviction that ‘The greater the Culture, the less the Rupture’. There are many similarities between a go-kart race and the culture of a company with values such as excellence, honesty, respect, clarity and well-being. We can live each of them in this dedicated experience on a daily basis,” says People & Culture Coordinator Pricila Coelho. The reference to rupture is simple. The company develops retail solutions such as the RUB automated store management system and GondolEye, a tool that uses modern camera lenses and even a robot to monitor the status of supermarket shelves. Everything is in real time and closely integrated with the client, from the process of identifying needs to the implementation of solutions to day-to-day service once they are up and running. A company’s culture is extremely important collectively. GIC Brasil not only knows this, but also experiences it. An aligned culture keeps employees motivated, satisfied with their work and aligned with the strategic objectives of the business. Strong and well-defined, an appropriate culture can help create a sense of shared purpose and identity, with teams that are respected and valued. This is how the employees felt in the midst of the dynamic with the racing karts. “We’re an incredible team! We work hard, but we also celebrate our achievements and victories!” said one of them enthusiastically on the company’s WhatsApp group. His name is not identified here in accordance with the rules of the General Data Protection Act (LGPD). There were at least 30 congratulatory messages. The common feeling among the employees seemed to be gratitude and enthusiasm for the engagement and external culture event they had attended. They got to know their colleagues better in a different environment, had fun and had a unique experience. They were full of praise for the organization, detail and excellent delivery of the event. They experienced, in practice, the company values that are common to kart racing, where good racers value excellence, honesty, respect, clarity and well-being.
