GIC Brasil is undergoing a leadership transition. Executive Ivan Fernandes has taken over as CEO, replacing the company’s founder, Irineu Fernandes, who is now chairman of the board of the retail innovation and technology company. With more than two decades in the market, GIC operates in the national market and in Latin American countries. “I’ve worked in all of GIC’s departments, from operations to finance and more technical areas. Together with my father, we decided that I was ready for the transition and to take on the presidency of the company. To do this, we hired a consultancy in 2022, so that everything would happen as expected,” recalls the new CEO. The company’s mission is to innovate and improve the consumer experience in retail. To achieve this goal, the new president plans to align new technologies with humanization, as well as valuing the company’s human capital. This takes into account managing talent and motivating the team of employees, around 60 in total. GIC Brasil’s main efforts are focused on implementation capacity, customer service, modern marketing and the development of new solutions and businesses. With large wholesale and supermarket chains in its portfolio, the company is moving into new verticals in the domestic market. Expansion into new Latin American markets is also part of the company’s plans. This effort will be based on the main automatic management tools and the robot, which recognizes images and improves the quality of product placement. These are “out the door” efforts, which go hand in hand with the company’s internal initiatives. The company values and encourages its employees, emphasizing the importance of having a shared purpose and providing a comfortable and healthy working environment. GIC believes in the humanization of technology, using it to enhance the connection with employees and improve the quality of work and life. “I like to say that the company, CNPJ, doesn’t grow in isolation. It’s the CPFs inside these companies that grow. It’s the people. And I love working with people. People whose purpose is aligned with the company, who want to evolve, will be successful here and, consequently, we will deliver value to the market,” says the CEO in one of his first interviews with GS1 Brasil.
